Tubi, the ad-supported TV streaming service owned by Fox, is currently experimenting with a new mobile feature leveraging OpenAI’s GPT-4. This feature, named “Rabbit AI,” empowers users to pose content-related questions. This move makes it possible for users to explore new TV shows and movies.
Rabbit AI by Tubi
The generative AI tool Rabbit AI, intends to furnish highly personalized recommendations to viewers. Users can receive a curated selection of related and ideal answers by inputting questions. These questions come from Tubi’s extensive library. Tubi’s extensive library boasts of more than 200,000 titles.
To facilitate future access, viewers have the option to save their results in a favorites list using the “bookmark” button. Moreover, Tubi has a search history termed “Rabbit Holes” within the feature. This makes it easy for viewers to revisit their queries at any time.
The feature is undergoing beta testing on Tubi’s iOS mobile app. There will be wider availability in the upcoming weeks. The Rabbit AI plug-in for ChatGPT will also be accessible to OpenAI paying subscribers.
Media Companies and AI
Tubi’s Rabbit AI launch closely follows OpenAI’s introduction of a voice feature for ChatGPT. The new voice feature lets users engage in spoken conversations with the chatbot. Other media giants such as Netflix, Amazon, and YouTube are making noteworthy investments in AI.
YouTube recently unveiled various AI-powered tools, including an inspiration tool, a new creator app, a generative AI capability for Shorts, and an AI-dubbing feature. Amazon last week introduced a new generative AI experience on Fire TVs. This lets Amazon users pose open-ended questions to Alexa about TV shows and movies. Additionally, Amazon announced a substantial $4 billion investment in the AI startup Anthropic on Monday. In July, Netflix revealed a job listing for an AI product manager, signaling its continued interest in AI advancements.
