Amazon and Anthropic have partnered to broaden the accessibility of Amazon Web Services to customers. The e-commerce giant said it will invest about 4 billion USD in Anthropic and also assume a minor ownership role in the company.
What is the partnership deal about?
Amazon and Anthropic’s strategic partnership highlights the former’s competitive generative AI race as it plans to keep up with competitors like Google and Microsoft. Within the partnership deal, both companies will work together to develop better-performing, reliable and safer generative artificial intelligence models.
Anthropic will use Inferentia chips and AWS Trainium to build and train its future generative artificial intelligence models. Both companies will work together to develop future Inferntia and Trainium technology. AWS will be the main cloud provider for important workloads including future model development and safety research
Anthropic is already committed to offering AWS users access to future replicas of its AI models via Amazon Bedrock— AWS’ controlled service that provides users with safe access to AI space’s advanced models. Likewise, AWS users will have access to innovative features early for fine-tuning features and model customization.
Another interesting perk of the partnership is that Amazon engineers and developers will be able to develop Anthropic models with Amazon Bedrock. This will ultimately allow them to incorporate AI features into their work and develop better user experiences on Amazon’s portfolio.
Amazon’s Bedrock Service
Amazon unveiled its Bedrock Service in April to provide developers and firms with seamless and safe access to innovative models from leading companies. With the bedrock service, users of AWS will be able to develop generative artificial intelligence models with foundation models
Companies including LexisNexis, Lonely Planet and Bridgewater Associates have started developing Anthropic AI models on Bedrock.
With an ultimate goal of making AI reliable and safe, both Anthropic and Amazon have been pushing forward the responsible building and deployment of generative AI technologies.
