AI firm Pulse9 recently introduced Zaein. Zaein is one of South Korea’s most prominent virtual personas to materialize corporate aspirations for the ultimate employee.
Pulse9 has been responsible for crafting lifelike digital avatars for some of South Korea’s major conglomerates, including Shinsegae. Research suggests that the global market for such realistic digital creations may burgeon to $527 billion by the year 2030.
In South Korea, AI-generated individuals have assumed roles as university students, interns at prominent corporations, and frequent appearances on live television, often causing a surge in the sales of products spanning from everyday essentials to high-end luxury items.
Zaein’s Features
Pulse9 generated Zaein’s facial characteristics using deep learning analysis. This analysis is a technique that involves training computers to process intricate data. More specifically, the company studied and used the faces of K-pop celebrities over the last twenty years.
Zaein has wide, expressive eyes, delicate features, a fair complexion, and an elegantly slender physique. She comes into existence by superimposing the deepfake onto a human performer. What sets this particular AI creation apart is the involvement of over 10 different human actors, each possessing diverse talents.
Her visage is a product of deepfake technology. Zaein’s physique comes from a group of actors of similar stature. Nonetheless, she fulfills various roles such as singing, news reading, and promoting high-end fashion on television.
AI Concerns
The potential of AI has gained widespread attention in recent months, notably since the emergence of ChatGPT at the end of the previous year. Experts from around the globe, including pioneers in AI, raised concerns regarding its hazards, prompting numerous countries to contemplate regulations for this influential yet high-risk innovation.
However, Park remains unworried. Her company is actively developing new virtual idols, virtual influencers, and virtual sales agents. The tools perform customer-facing roles for South Korean companies facing recruitment difficulties in a country marked by a declining birthrate. She emphasizes the pressing need for more comprehensive and lucid regulations governing the capabilities of AI. She noted that when employed judiciously, this technology can contribute positively to enhancing the quality of life.
