Zoom and OpenAI: A Partnership for the Future of AI

March 28, 2023
in AI News

Zoom, the popular video conferencing platform, has recently announced a partnership with OpenAI, the leading AI research company. This collaboration aims to bring AI-driven features to the Zoom platform and expand its smart companion tool, Zoom IQ.

Zoom IQ is a smart companion that empowers collaboration and unlocks people’s potential by summarizing chat threads, organizing ideas, drafting content for chats, emails, and whiteboard sessions, creating meeting agendas, and more. With the new partnership with OpenAI, Zoom plans to add additional generative AI capabilities to Zoom IQ.

Some of the new features that will be added to Zoom IQ as a result of this partnership include Chat Compose, Email Compose, and Meeting Summary. Chat Compose helps users to compose messages based on the conversational context of their chat and can be customized to change the tone of the message and response suggestions. Email Compose takes the conversational context from prior Zoom Meetings, Zoom Phone calls, and email threads to draft email suggestions. Meeting Summary generates summaries of meetings and captures post-meeting next steps that users can share directly via a team chat, a Zoom Calendar invite or in an email.

These new features will make it easier for users to collaborate and communicate effectively. By leveraging the power of AI from OpenAI, Zoom is able to provide its customers with even more value and improve their experience on the platform.

Zoom’s approach to AI is unique in that it leverages its own proprietary AI models as well as those from leading AI companies such as OpenAI. This federated approach to AI allows Zoom to provide the most value for its customers’ diverse needs. These models can also be customized to perform better for a customer based on their vocabulary and requirements.

This partnership between Zoom and OpenAI is an exciting development in the world of AI. It shows how companies can work together to bring the benefits of AI to their customers and improve their products. We can expect to see more collaborations like this in the future as companies continue to explore the potential of AI.
