Leading video-sharing giant YouTube is entering a partnership with music powerhouse Universal Music to inaugurate a pioneering Music Artificial Intelligence (AI) incubator. This strategic initiative marks YouTube’s resolute foray into AI-generated music and sets forth novel standards and policies for the treatment of AI-created musical content on the platform.
Youtube announced on Monday that the music incubator will allow it to collaborate with songwriters, musicians and artists to explore how AI music. The video sharing platform also signed artists, songwriters and producers like Max Richter, Yo Gotti, Rosanne Cash and Frank Sinatra.
YouTube is also publishing a new set of artificial intelligence (AI) music principles and policies. These include regulations on how AI-generated music will be treated on Youtube and the monetary options available for artists and companies
According to the CEO and Chairman of Universal Music, Lucian Grainge, company is trying to build a responsible and safe environment for music and video– where songwriters and artists can maintain their ability to choose and innovative integrity while getting fair compensations.
Youtube is embracing generative AI
Since the launch of ChatGPT last year, several industries have adopted generative AI as lawmakers develop rules that guide against its misuse.
According to the CEO of the company, Neal Mohan, the music incubator will help to inform the approach of Youtube as it collaborates with some of the most innovative producers, artists and songwriters across various cultures, experiences and genres. Mohan also mentioned that the group will assist in gathering insights on AI research at Youtube.
YouTube has said it will continue to fund and develop AI-powered technologies including developing its copyright management tools and content identity to protect creators and viewers.
