The Shopping Saver

The Shopping Saver tool identifies overlooked gift cards, discount codes, and store credits that individuals may have forgotten. Additionally, it generates suggested messages to vendors, streamlining the process of applying these savings after completing a purchase. Yahoo highlighted that a substantial percentage of U.S. adults possess unused gift cards, vouchers, or store credits. The primary objective of this new tool is to assist users in effectively cutting costs while making online purchases.

Upgrades to Yahoo Mail’s Search Function and Writing Assistant Feature

The company is rolling out upgrades to the service’s search function and writing assistant feature to enhance Yahoo Mail’s capabilities. Concerning the search function, Yahoo Mail’s search bar now offers suggestions for commonly asked questions, acting as a useful guide for users seeking specific information. This advancement eliminates the need to rely solely on keywords. Users now have the option to frame their queries as questions or choose from a set of prompted inquiries that are relevant to their search terms. Additionally, the search experience is now refined with the addition of new filters such as “From,” “To,” and “Date,” enabling users to narrow down their search results precisely.

At the same time, the writing assistant feature has undergone expansion. This component, responsible for generating suggested responses that align with the user’s personal style, now provides a broader spectrum of tones. Initially limited to producing content professionally or casually, the writing assistant now encompasses different tones, including urgent, grateful, or apologetic. This flexibility empowers users to select the tone best suits their unique communication preferences.

Yahoo acknowledges using Google Cloud’s AI platform to create generative AI functionalities. Initially, these AI features were exclusively under trial with iOS users. However, they have now encompassed users using web browsers. While Yahoo is gearing up for a public launch of these features, they have refrained from disclosing a specific date for the broader release.
