Renowned for its swift integration of cutting-edge technology, Singapore has now secured the top spot as the global leader in embracing artificial intelligence (AI) skills among its workforce, according to a recent report published by LinkedIn.
The “Future of Work” report by LinkedIn sheds light on Singapore’s exceptional prowess in rapidly adopting AI competencies, outshining 25 other nations observed by the platform. This thriving Asian nation has achieved the highest percentage of professionals incorporating AI-related proficiencies into their profiles.
According to the report, Singapore’s diffusion rate this year is 20 times more than what it was in January 2016. The rate is reportedly higher than the standard average which is 8 times. Finland, Ireland, India and Canada round up the five countries with the highest AI adoption rates.
The editorial head at LinkedIn, Pooja Chhabria said the country has been a fertile land for AI disruption for a long time. This can also be attributed to Singapore’s strong structure for the protection of intellectual property and the flourishing ecosystem of angel investors and venture capital organizations.

Skills ‘potentially augmentable’ by artificial intelligence
The report also revealed that the five fastest-growing AI skills added to the profiles were the ones hinting at the development of generative AI.There has been enthusiasm for the possible support AI can give to workers. In the HR department, generative AI can boost productivity and can even eliminate discrimination in the recruitment process.
The country’s workforce has also shown interest in AI possibilities. A Microsoft report showed 81% of Singaporean workers said they would be willing to delegate much work to generative AI tools to reduce their workload. According to the report, 88% of the country’s leaders expect that workers will need to equip themselves with generative AI capabilities in the contemporary work era.
The government continues to support the inclusion of AI across different industries. Also, the government looks to create a structure on how it can ally with researchers and companies to achieve the positive impact of artificial intelligence
As a part of its AI strategy, the Singaporean government has launched many initiatives, including the SkillsFuture program and Workforce Singapore, to assist its workforce to take ownership of their learning and upskilling.
