Google Expands Search Generative Experience to Japan and India

September 3, 2023
in AI News

Google is taking its Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) capabilities to new horizons as it extends the availability of its Search Generative Experience (SGE) beyond the United States. Google announced the latest countries to benefit from this AI-powered technology are Japan and India, where users can now enjoy a personalized and innovative search experience.

Personalised Experience for Japan and India Users

With the new expansion, the Search Generative Experience is being personalized for the new countries. Users in Japan can access the generative AI technology in their native language while India users can access it in both Hindi and English.

For better adaptation, the new feature includes voice input – a popular feature in India– so that users can input their queries using their voice instead of typing and also listen to the generated responses.

Google introduces new features to discover relevant websites

Since the initial launch of the conversational mode in May, Google has continuously improved the SGE. The latest updates include travel recommendations, local information, and tools to assist users with definitions, summaries, and coding-related queries.

Google has introduced an arrow icon located near the AI-powered summary, allowing users to easily access relevant websites associated with the information provided. This feature is currently available exclusively to U.S. users but will be available to Japan and India in the upcoming weeks.

Apart from the expansion, SGE is adding a feature that will help users visit and discover websites that support the information in the generated responses.

Since its initial launch, the SGE has garnered significant attention, particularly among younger users. The highest satisfaction rates are among users between 18 to 24 years, who appreciate the conversational style of the AI-powered tool. Users find it particularly useful for asking detailed and complex questions, making it a valuable addition to Google’s suite of search tools.
