Amazon is releasing a generative artificial intelligence (AI) feature that can summarise the reviews of a product for customers. The company which has been searching for how to integrate AI in its products and services started testing the new feature in June. The primary goal of this initiative is to assist customers in swiftly grasping the sentiments and feedback shared by fellow consumers without having to sift through extensive review sections. The feature will pick popular and similar themes and then summarise them into a short and precise paragraph.
In a blog post, the company said the reviews generated by AI are available to a group of online customers in the United States across a wide number of products. According to one of the company’s directors, Vaughn Schermerhorn, the feature may also be extended to other customers and additional types of products a few months from now, depending on feedback from customers.
Amazon is focusing on generative AI
Despite the heated generative AI competition among tech giants, Amazon has not rolled out any high-profile AI imaging tool or chatbot. Rather, Amazon has placed attention on AI services that can provide developers with the ability to train their generative artificial intelligence tools and products on its AWS cloud infrastructure.
The CEO of the company, Andy Jassy said in April that Amazon is looking to invest heavily in generative AI. In a discussion with investors, he said all of Amazon’s businesses have many generative AI ideas underway and device units which develop tools like Alexa.
In a recent announcement, Amazon disclosed its intentions to enrich the shopping experience even further. Alongside the AI-generated review summaries, the company is rolling out an additional feature that facilitates insights for products. This multifaceted AI approach underscores Amazon’s unrelenting commitment to leveraging innovative technology to elevate the online shopping experience for its vast customer base.
