With Firefly, the new feature on Adobe Express, the design software may rival brands like Microsoft Designer and Canva. Adobe recently announced that with the integration of the generative AI software, users can easily produce custom images and text effects within a few minutes.
Govind Balakrishnan, the Senior Vice President of Adobe Express and Digital Media Services at Adobe, stated that with the Firefly innovations at the core of Express, they are empowering a growing user base with an encompassing tool that makes content creation fast, easy, and fun.
“The all-new Express is revolutionizing how people turn ideas into stunning content and we’re just getting started with exciting innovations across image creation, design, video, audio, PDFs, and more still to come”

According to a recent blog article on Adobe’s website, the integration of the Firefly into Express – which offers creators practical advantages − makes it possible to quickly generate custom images and text effects from text prompts in over 100 languages and is designed to be safe for commercial use.
“As Firefly evolves, we expect to offer creators a choice of different Firefly models designed for different uses,” the company noted on its website.
Firefly brings new features to Adobe Express
Some of the latest innovations Firefly brings to Express include a new all-in-one editor; deep workflows with Creative Cloud apps; new video, multiple-page templates, and design elements. It also includes PDF support; more AI-power; quick actions; real-time co-editing and seamless review and commenting capabilities; animations like Fade In, Pop, Flicker, and Bungee.
Windows Central noted that the focus on the utilization of Adobe’s Firefly is on helping people create their projects rather than having a server produce everything a user wants.
Also, this “maintains a human element to the creation process and allows for more control than what is currently provided by many other generative AI programs out there.”
Experts believe the new model of Adobe Express would fare well in the market. According to the Verge, Adobe Express shares similar features with Canva and Microsoft Designer which have both released their own suite of AI-powered features in recent times. While Microsoft Designer was first unveiled in October last year, Canva has supported AI-powered features since 2019 when it first introduced its automatic background removal tool.
